(2018)

On the world, fear and other relationships: 'Popcorn Report'

BY Letícia Queiroz

Comedy and current affairs show the premiere of the show by Grupo PUTO, from Curitiba. On stage since last Thursday (11), the play will be on display until the next 4th of November. Popcorn report takes place from Thursday to Sunday, at Teatro Novelas Curitibanas. Pricing follows the “pay what you want” system.

Is it possible to hide from the world? Living without knowing what happens outside? It is through these questions that the Popcorn Report tells the story of a family that decides to isolate themselves from the world, staying only in their residence. The concept is related to the idea of the eponymous book by Faith Popcorn, in which she points out the aspects of human behavior born from the aspect of consumerism.

Cloistered, the family begins to create survival strategies, with a backdrop of humor and lots of music. From then on, dramaturgy approaches, through the new characters that enter the scene, the incompatibility of human relationships, sometimes marked by intolerance and fear.

The dramaturgy addresses, through the new characters that enter the scene, the incompatibility of human relationships, sometimes marked by intolerance and fear.

In its construction, the show unties the “ordinary” plays, because it portrays an innovative work in its scenic aspects, either by the way in which it was produced and staged, or by presenting a plurality in its dramatic repertoire. It manifests and invests through its characters, cartoonish and full of life, an expressive theatricality. It exhibits a work that demonstrates spirituality and a lot of humor.

In addition, it presents an audience arrangement that surrounds the show. The audience chairs form an almost circle around where the staging takes place, so that the arrangement brings the cast and audience closer, which makes the audience, even if without interaction throughout the show, feel part of the scene. Still in this aspect, it offers the audience new looks at the show, since each person who occupies a seat in the theater's chairs has the opportunity to watch it from a different angle than the others.

Directed by Rodrigo Hayalla and written by Ali Freyer, Popcorn Report is produced by the artistic group Movimento Enxame – Espaço e Criação.
